Albert O. Hirschman on Conflicts - Dictionary of Arguments

Brocker I 525
Conflicts/Economy/Consumption/Competition/Hirschman: Hirschman thesis: The necessity and probability of conflicts decreases with the abundance of existing alternatives to which one can migrate. In view of the considerable effort required for conflicts, this probability only increases with the importance of the goods or organization in question for the consumer or the member.
